Business Migration

Business immigration is a category of immigration designed to encourage foreign investment and entrepreneurship in Canada. The Business Immigration Program is designed to attract experienced business people and entrepreneurs from around the world to invest in and manage businesses in Canada that will contribute to the Canadian economy.

The Business Immigration Program is administered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and is based on the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). Business immigrants are selected based on their ability to become economically established in Canada and to make a significant contribution to the Canadian economy.

There are three categories of business immigration:

1. Investor
2. Entrepreneur
3. Self-employed

To be eligible for business immigration, applicants must meet the requirements of one of the three categories.

1. Investor

To be eligible for business immigration under the Investor category, applicants must:

• have a minimum net worth of CAD$1,600,000;
• make a minimum investment of CAD$800,000;
• have at least 2 years of business experience; and
• meet the minimum language requirements.

2. Entrepreneur

To be eligible for business immigration under the Entrepreneur category, applicants must:

• have a minimum net worth of CAD$300,000;
• make a minimum investment of CAD$200,000;
• have at least 3 years of business experience;
• create at least 1 full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; and
• meet the minimum language requirements.

3. Self-employed

To be eligible for business immigration under the Self-employed category, applicants must:

• have relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics; and
• meet the minimum language requirements.
